Card Readers

Proximity card readers allow greater security than keypads or transmitters. A proximity card is assigned to an individual. Cards are added or removed from the card reader system. If lost, the card can be deleted thus maintaining security. Card readers can be stand alone, or connected to a larger system. The stand alone card readers contain data internally within the security system. Larger systems send the card information to a telephone entry system, door controller, and or a computer. At the central point the data for the card holder is kept along with usage and privilege instructions and record of usage.

Long range card reader systems known as transponder systems. They operate much like “Fast Track” systems at toll booths. In these system the transponder is on the vehicle, and the receiver is near the driveway gate or garage door. This type of system is generally attached to a telephone entry system or centralized control system.
