DoorKing 9230 Maximum Security Slide Gate Operator | Class III/IV | 3 HP | 5,000 lb

The DoorKing 9230 is a Class III and Class IV maximum security vehicular slide gate operator rated for gates up to 5,000 lbs (2,267 kg) and 100 ft in length. Powered by a 3 HP motor through a 30:1 continuous oil bath gearbox with adjustable solid-state variable speed control from 1/2 to 2 ft/sec, the 9230 is specified for government facilities, military installations, airports, correctional facilities, secured ports, and high-security industrial perimeters where Class III or IV operation is required and gate weight falls between the lighter-duty 9220 and the heavier-capacity 9235 and 9240. Class III and IV designate limited and restricted access applications — this operator is not for residential or general public-serving use.

3 HP / 5,000 lb Capacity

The 9230 nearly triples the gate weight capacity of the 9220 — from 2,000 lbs to 5,000 lbs — with the step up to 3 HP. The 30:1 gearbox runs in a continuous oil bath and delivers consistent torque output through the full range of the adjustable speed control. Slow-start and slow-stop operation are standard, reducing mechanical load on gate hardware through every cycle at any speed setting.

Pedestal Mount — Included

Unlike the 9210 and 9220 where pedestal mounting is optional, the 9230 requires pedestal mounting and the heavy-duty 9200-135 pedestal ships with the unit. Pad mounting is not available on the 9230. The chain tray kit (p/n 2601-270) is available separately in 10-ft sections and is recommended for gates exceeding 20 ft.

Fail-Secure Operation

The 9230 is a fail-secure operator. An electrical interlock prevents the gate from starting during manual operation, keeping gate movement under controlled authorization at all times.

Electrical and Control

The 9230 accepts 208, 230, or 460 VAC input. Features include adjustable variable speed (1/2–2 ft/sec), slow-start/slow-stop, adjustable partial open, anti-tailgating, selectable stop/reverse loop function, direct-driven limit switches for precise gate control, solid-state motor relays, and built-in power and reset switches. Two 115 VAC outlets and two plug-in loop detector ports (DKS detectors only) are integrated.

Gate Tracker Reporting

The 9230 includes Gate Tracker output compatible with DKS 1833, 1835, 1837, and 1838 access control systems (2358 expansion board required) for centralized operator data logging across multi-gate facilities.

The 9230 is ETL Listed by Intertek, Made in the USA, and backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Housing is G90 galvanized steel painted charcoal grey with a stainless steel access door. Operating range: 10°F to 140°F (-12°C to 62°C).

Where the 9230 Fits in the 9200 Series

The 9230 is the mid-capacity step in the DoorKing 9200 series. It handles gates up to 5,000 lbs — more than double the 9220's 2,000 lb rating — while remaining within the 100 ft maximum gate length and #60 chain configuration shared across the lower 9200 series models. For gates requiring capacity above 5,000 lbs within Class III/IV, the 9235 (3,000 lb with variable speed drive variant) and 9240 (8,000 lb, #80 chain, 3 HP) are the next specifications. For gates exceeding 9,000 lbs or requiring the heavier #100 chain platform, the DoorKing 9500 series is the appropriate line.
