DoorKing 9240 Maximum Security Slide Gate Operator | Class III/IV | 3 HP | 8,000 lb

The DoorKing 9240 is a Class III and Class IV maximum security vehicular slide gate operator rated for gates up to 8,000 lbs (3,628 kg) and 100 ft in length. Powered by a 3 HP motor through a 30:1 continuous oil bath gearbox with adjustable solid-state variable speed control from 1/2 to 2 ft/sec, the 9240 is the heaviest-duty model in the DoorKing 9200 series. It is specified for government facilities, military installations, airports, correctional facilities, secured ports, and high-security industrial perimeters where Class III or IV operation is required and gate weight exceeds what the 9230 accommodates. Class III and IV designate limited and restricted access applications — this operator is not for residential or general public-serving use.

#80 Chain and 8,000 lb Capacity

The 9240 uses #80 roller chain — a step up from the #60 chain on the 9210, 9220, and 9230 — enabling it to handle gates up to 8,000 lbs, 60% more capacity than the 9230. The chain ships with the unit: 20 ft of #80 chain plus chain brackets and hardware are included. A chain support tray (p/n 2601-270) in 10-ft sections should be used on any gate exceeding 20 ft in length.

10-Gauge Steel Housing

The 9240 is the only model in the 9200 series with a 10-gauge steel housing. The lighter-duty 9210, 9220, and 9230 use G90 galvanized steel; the 9240 steps up to a heavier steel enclosure rated for more demanding installation environments. The stainless steel access door is standard across the series.

Pedestal Mount — Included

Like the 9230, the 9240 requires pedestal mounting — pad mounting is not available. The heavy-duty 9200-135 pedestal ships with the unit. The minimum gate length on the 9240 is 25 ft, five feet longer than the 9230's 20 ft minimum.

Fail-Secure Operation

The 9240 is a fail-secure operator. An electrical interlock prevents the gate from starting during manual operation, keeping gate movement under controlled authorization at all times. Slow-start and slow-stop are standard on every cycle.

Electrical and Control

The 9240 accepts 208, 230, or 460 VAC input. Features include adjustable variable speed (1/2–2 ft/sec), slow-start/slow-stop, adjustable partial open, anti-tailgating, selectable stop/reverse loop function, direct-driven limit switches for precise gate control, solid-state motor relays, and built-in power and reset switches. Two 115 VAC outlets and two plug-in loop detector ports (DKS detectors only) are integrated.

Gate Tracker Reporting

The 9240 includes Gate Tracker output compatible with DKS 1833, 1835, 1837, and 1838 access control systems (2358 expansion board required) for centralized operator data logging across multi-gate facilities.

The 9240 is ETL Listed by Intertek, Made in the USA, and backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Operating range: 10°F to 140°F (-12°C to 62°C).

The 9240 is the heaviest-duty operator in the DoorKing 9200 line, rated for Class III/IV gates up to 8,000 lbs. It steps up from the 9230 with a heavier #80 chain, greater gate weight capacity, and a 10-gauge steel housing. For installations requiring capacity beyond 8,000 lbs — or gate weights starting at 9,000 lbs on single-phase power and 15,000 lbs on three-phase — the DoorKing 9500 series is the next specification, starting with the 9550.
